“Too small to see, too bright to ignore.” — 4K-MEMS

We’re excited to launch our new fundraising project for 4K MEMS, a Switzerland-based deep-tech startup. 4K-MEMS is developing unique NIR emission devices, a breakthrough technology that enables new paradigms in personalized sensing. 4K-MEMS designed compact, powerful light sources which can be seamlessly integrated into next-generation platforms, unlocking applications across health, consumer electronics, and beyond.
TD Shepherd is supporting the 4K-MEMS team in their seed round fundraising and wishes them success in accelerating high-performance sensing.

Tiny IR: Opportunities & Technical Challenges Behind

Generating infrared light isn’t difficult. But generating it on a chip — reliably, efficiently, and compactly — is a different story. Traditional IR sources rely on heating elements. They radiate across a wide range of wavelengths, consume significant power, and require filters to isolate the signals. Manageable in labs, unworkable in wearables.
